If you are missing one or more teeth, Drs. Alyssa Fisher and Gary Painter may recommend a solution known as the dental bridge. Many patients who visit Tooth Acres Dentistry will learn the benefits of these restorations for restoring the function and appearance of the smile after losing teeth. Fort Wayne, Indiana, patients are invited to visit our facility and discuss the many options available for tooth replacement, including dentures and dental implants.

What is a dental bridge, and how does it work?

Our team best describes a dental bridge as a type of dental restoration used to replace one missing tooth or even multiple missing teeth in a row. Dental bridges are fixed restorations, meaning they are non-removable; this makes them a more stable, natural-feeling type of tooth replacement than partial dentures. To anchor the artificial teeth and provide a secure restoration, our dentists will place a dental bridge on the two surrounding teeth or on dental implants adjacent to the gap. Dental bridges can typically be placed in just two visits to our dental office. We will ensure that your custom dental bridge fits your smile comfortably.

How does a dental bridge work in restoring the smile?

When in place, a dental bridge can enhance your smile by:

  • Restoring lost facial volume
  • Improving your ability to speak, chew, and eat properly
  • Enhancing the appearance of your smile
  • Preventing the remaining teeth from shifting into the space left by the missing teeth
  • Alleviating stress on the bite

During a consultation visit with our team at Tooth Acres Dentistry, you can speak to us about your unique needs and find out if you are a good fit for dental bridges or other alternative options available at our facility.

Dental Bridges

A bridge is a non-surgical way to replace one or many teeth. A bridge uses the adjacent teeth as anchors to support the missing tooth or teeth. With today’s dental advancements, a bridge can be fabricated in a fairly short period of time, using a metal or nonmetal foundation. Don’t let that missing tooth affect the way you speak, eat, and smile. Bridges yield immediate results that last a lifetime. Ask your dentist what type of bridge may be right for you.
