At Tooth Acres Dentistry, we are committed to keeping your smile in the best of health. To help us reach this goal, we provide DIAGNOdent laser cavity detection in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Drs. Alyssa Fisher and Gary Painter work together with patients to educate them on the importance of preventative care and detecting tooth decay in the earliest stages.

What is the DIAGNOdent laser?

The DIAGNOdent laser is a high-tech dental tool that helps our dentists detect cavities at the earliest possible stage. We work hard to stay abreast of the latest developments in dental technology and techniques to ensure that you always receive the best possible dental care. This device works by sending a beam of laser light into the tooth that measures internal fluorescence. A tooth with a cavity will reflect more light, indicating potential problems that cannot be seen with the eye. These cavities can be confirmed with further imaging solutions such as dental x-rays before providing treatment.

Who is a good candidate for DIAGNOdent laser detection?

The DIAGNOdent laser is appropriate for children and adults; our Fort Wayne dentists recommend that everyone undergo an initial examination using this tool. It’s especially important for children, as early detection of tooth decay is the best way to prevent it from developing into a more serious problem.

What are the benefits of using the DIAGNOdent device for decay detection?

DIAGNOdent laser cavity detection is fast, accurate, simple, and painless. The DIAGNOdent uses laser technology to identify areas that may be affected by tooth decay, even when the cavity starts beneath the enamel surface of the tooth. With the DIAGNOdent laser, we can detect cavities on the top of the tooth earlier than is typically possible with a traditional exam and x-rays. By identifying and treating cavities earlier, we can prevent further tooth damage and provide a conservative restoration that allows us to preserve more of the natural tooth structure.
